Disney’s newest resort, Disneyland Hong Kong, opened to mixed reviews in 2005. Although the park attracted many visitors, it had a severe lack of rides, and a second park has been on the drawing board for quite some time. Now finally, we can reveal to you: Disney Studios - Hong Kong.
This incarnation of Disney Studios features a whole host of movie-related rides, shows and attractions – some found in other Disney parks across the world – others totally unique to this park! Before you explore the park, have a read of what’s in store for you:
Disney Studios will take you behind-the-scenes more so than you could ever imagine! You’ll be thrust right into the sets of some of your favourite flicks on the ‘Great Movie Ride’, and can even seen how a movie would be filmed and put together in the ‘Backlot Tour’. Every aspect of film-making is covered here at Disney Studios – even movie soundtracks. You can check out our modern ‘Recording Studio’ and may even glimpse some famous artists using our facilities!
Talking of music, get ready to rock on the ‘Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’! This fast and furious limo coaster will turn your world upside down! Unlike previous incarnations of the ride, you can choose which music score to listen to! Choose from a selection of five great rock songs to blast out of the coaster car stereos during your wild ride!
Perched high above the park is the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Dare you enter this abandoned hotel, where all is not quite as it seems. Soon you’ll find out that you’ll be journeying into the Twilight Zone, in the ‘Tower of Terror’! After experiencing those thrills and spills, why not grab some lunch in the highly-acclaimed atmospheric ‘Hollywood Tower Restaurant’? The gorgeous food will keep your tastebuds satisfied until dinner time, when you can simultaneously dine and watch a show in the ‘Magic Castle Dinner Show’.
In fact, Disney Studios has an incredible line-up of shows. ‘Fantasmic!’ is a night-time special effects extravaganza where you can see Mickey take on the Disney villains, in a battle of sorcery and magic! ‘Lights! Motors! Action!’ is a high-octane motor show – hold on to your seats as you witness how a high-speed car-chase scene would be filmed! Are you prepared to fill the hotseat in ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire – Play It’? In this show, you’ll have the chance to become a Disney-Millionaire – if you have the knowledge – not to mention the nerve! Finally, Disney Studios has one of the largest theatres in the world, the ‘Hyperion Theatre’, showcasing award-winning spectaculars, such as the Lion King and Aladdin musicals.
But wait, there’s more riding to be done! Enter our family fun zone showcasing some of Disney-Pixar’s latest movies; the Animation backlot. Here, you can take a wild spin in the riptides of ‘Crush’s Coaster’ and check out rides based on characters from Cars, A Bug’s Life and the Incredibles. What’s more, check out our ‘Animation Studio’ to see the how these movies are actually created!
Finally, we bring you Disney Studios two most unique rides! Float on air in ‘Buzz Lightyear’s Hoverjet Highway’ – this revolutionary new ride actually uses hoverjet technology, as you float feet above the airtrack to infinity and beyond!
‘Pirates Of the Caribbean – The Fountain Of Youth’ is one of the park’s most white-knuckle experiences, and uses the same ride system as Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Florida. Continuing right where the last Pirates film left off, hop aboard the Black Pearl with Jack Sparrow and co, as you go in search of the Fountain Of Youth. But be warned – you’ll be faced with sea monsters, magic and mystics as you splash-down, forwards and backwards, in this swash-buckling roller coaster adventure!
Disney Studios also uses the trademark Fastpass system on several of the most popular attractions, to reduce your wait time, and contains all the traditional elements of Disney parks – there’s even a parade to see! So jump aboard a wild ride, see a show and go behind-the-scenes like never before, at this movie lover’s paradise; Disney Studios - Hong Kong!
Creators’ Notes:
- Although the park carries the name ‘Hong Kong’, all we intended to create was a Disney Studios park. However, all present Disney resorts have a second park, with many of the traditional Studios rides, except Hong Kong. Thus, instead of inventing a new Disney resort, this park carries the name Hong Kong. It isn’t intended to have a Hong Kong feel at all – as you will notice, all the ride names are in English!
- Glitches / bugs etc. We advise you to use the RCT2reliABLE patch to prevent hacked rides from constantly breaking down. Furthermore, without this patch, some of the many hacked rides are prone to crashing.
- Several of the attractions (e.g. Lights! Motors! Action! and the Backlot Tour) are supposed to have invisible track, but unfortunately this is not possible without the game crashing!
- We have left the roofs and walls off some attractions (e.g. Hyperion Theatre) just so you can see the interior.
